Let’s be honest: nobody likes required professional development when it’s just a voice-over on a static slide deck. I took our "Lunch & Learn" program and turned it into a high-production video series that people actually wanted to watch.
By introducing green screens, multi-cam setups, and professional audio, we didn't just meet compliance—we earned a top 60 spot in the Training 125 awards.
The Highlights
The Role: Video Producer & Multi-Cam Director
The Mission: Kill the "boring training" stigma.
The Result: 50-minute, CPE-compliant sessions that feel like a professional broadcast, not a chore.
The Strategy: A Two-Phase Level Up
We didn’t just add a filter; we rebuilt the entire learning experience from the ground up.
Phase 1 (The Green Screen Era): I moved us into a studio setting using Adobe After Effects to create dynamic, immersive backgrounds that kept the focus on the presenter.
Phase 2 (The Live Set): We transitioned to a multi-camera live environment to capture the energy of a real classroom, making remote viewers feel like they were actually in the room.
The Ecosystem: Beyond the video, I designed the full support suite, participant guides, proctor resources, and all the compliance docs needed to keep things official.
Green screen studio production integrating Adobe After Effects for dynamic visual storytelling beyond traditional PowerPoint presentations
Multi-camera live session capture with professional audio equipment, transforming standard training into engaging 50-minute CPE-compliant productions
Comprehensive learning ecosystem including participant guides, proctor resources, and compliance documentation supporting the video content
Behind the Scenes (Technical Execution)
I pushed my technical toolkit to the limit to make this happen:
Multi-Cam Directing: Scaled from simple 2-minute clips to directing full hour-long professional productions.
Pro Audio & Visuals: Used broadcast-grade recording gear and After Effects to ensure the sound and picture were crisp enough for the big screen.
Distribution: Managed everything from the intranet marketing and invitations to the final hosting on our LMS (BKDU).
The Payoff
Award-Winning Quality: We ranked 52nd in the 2020 Training 125 awards, proving that internal training can compete with the best in the industry.
Engagement: We transformed "required reading" into a sought-after media experience.
Scale: Proved that we could produce long-form, high-quality content consistently without losing momentum.
What I Learned
The biggest lesson? Production value is a sign of respect for the audience’s time. When you treat internal training like a professional media production, employees engage with the content differently. They don't just "check the box"—they actually learn.
